Biography

Syman Lau, DO, attended the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, Texas, graduating with her medical degree in 2021. She completed her Family Medicine residency in 2024 at CHRISTUS Health/Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency Program before heading to the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) to complete a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2025. Fluent in English and Cantonese, Dr. Lau joined Kelsey-Seybold Clinic as a board-certified Palliative Care physician in November 2025.
Dr. Lau sees patients and their families when they are facing serious, often life-limiting illnesses. She helps manage a range of symptoms, including pain, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, and more, with a goal of improving quality of life for patients with complex conditions. In addition to helping manage her patients’ complex symptoms, Dr. Lau helps coordinate communication about their illness with other specialists and services and supports her patients and their families as they navigate challenging medical decisions. Her favorite part of practicing medicine is having the privilege of being present with her patients and their families, as she finds these connections incredibly meaningful.
