Biography

Jessica Ubanyionwu, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN at Kelsey-Seybold. She attended the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine at Galveston, earning her medical degree in 2017. She then headed to Washington, D.C., to complete her internship and OB/GYN residency at Howard University in 2021. Dr. Ubanyionwu joined Kelsey-Seybold in August 2025.
Dr. Ubanyionwu originally wanted to become an optometrist but was inspired to become a physician by a very encouraging OB/GYN. She provides comprehensive care related to women’s reproductive health and supports women across all stages of life from adolescence through menopause and beyond. Dr. Ubanyionwu treats a wide range of conditions, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, and hormonal concerns. She also provides prenatal care and family planning support, manages high- and low-risk pregnancies, performs gynecologic surgeries, and offers preventive screenings like Pap smears and breast exams. In obstetrics, Dr. Ubanyionwu is particularly drawn to cases that require a high level of coordination, critical thinking, and personalized care to ensure the best outcomes for both mother and baby. She finds it incredibly special to be trusted to share in some of the most meaningful and sometimes most vulnerable moments of her patients’ lives, and she is grateful every day for the opportunity to make a difference in such a personal and lasting way.
