Biography

Tesfai Tekle, MD, earned his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2007. He then went to Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana, to complete his Internal Medicine residency in 2010. After caring for patients for 15 years as a hospitalist, Dr. Tekle completed a transplant Hepatology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine – St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, in 2022 followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship at Tulane School of Medicine in 2025. He joined Kelsey-Seybold in August 2025.
As a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Tekle sees patients with a wide variety of gastrointestinal concerns, including rectal bleeding, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, and more. He also treats patients for hepatological conditions such as jaundice, provides cancer screenings such as colonoscopies, and has a special interest in performing gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.
