Marilian Canals Rivera, MD

Marilian Canals Rivera, MD, believes patients deserve to be treated with kindness and respect regardless of their background, gender or race. She strives to create an environment in which people feel heard, valued and empowered to take an active role in their care.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Canals Rivera has always had an inclination to help others. She believes being a doctor is about using both the brain and heart to make a difference in a patient’s life. Taking a holistic approach, she is deeply passionate about helping others make healthy lifestyle changes. Preventive care, diabetes and obesity are some of her many clinical interests.

Dr. Canals Rivera loves seeing how care and knowledge come together to make a positive impact on her patients’ lives. She finds it incredibly gratifying when they become motivated to achieve their health goals. She currently lives with her family in Ellenton, Florida. Traveling, cooking, playing guitar and RV camping are some of her favorite activities.
