Biography

Ajla Uzicanin, MPAS, PA-C, graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine at Galveston, earning her Master of Physician Assistant Studies in 2024. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from Texas A&M University in College Station. Bilingual in English and Bosnian, Ajla joined Kelsey-Seybold’s Gastroenterology department as a certified physician assistant in January 2026.
Always intrigued by medical TV shows, Ajla has had a lifelong interest in medicine and especially enjoys having a meaningful impact on the lives of others. With a proactive, collaborative, and supportive approach, she provides evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions and symptoms. These include symptoms such as abdominal pain, dysphagia, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, and rectal bleeding as well as conditions such as acid reflux/GERD, eosinophilic esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis), celiac disease, gallbladder pathologies, pancreatitis, liver conditions, and infections. In addition to colorectal cancer screening and follow-up treatment for colon polyps, Ajla is especially interested in providing patient education and guiding patients through long-term disease management. Her favorite parts of being in the medical field are building relationships, helping patients feel understood, and seeing their progress over time.
