Biography

Sudip Thakar, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Kelsey-Seybold. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, earning his medical degree in 2018. He then went to McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University Preliminary General Surgery, completing his internship and Ophthalmology residency in 2019 and 2022, respectively. Dr. Thakar headed to Duke University to complete an Oculofacial Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship in 2024 before joining Kelsey-Seybold’s Ophthalmology department in September 2024.
Dr. Thakar followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both physicians who taught him there is no greater satisfaction than in the service of others. Specializing in oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Thakar’s areas of expertise include functional, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery involving eyelids, brows, and face; eyelid tumor management and reconstruction of eyelids after Mohs Surgery; treatment for eyelid and canalicular trauma; evaluation and management of tearing and lacrimal drainage dysfunction; eye removal surgery; treatment of thyroid eye disease; and Botox and filler injections. His clinical interests including the medical and surgical management of periocular and orbital conditions, such as addressing droopy eyelids or managing eyelid trauma. Dr. Thakar’s favorite part of practicing medicine is helping his patients achieve their goals and improving their quality of life.
