Biography

Muhammad Umer Awan, MD, FACC, earned his medical degree at Rawalpindi Medical University in 2008. After completing his Internal Medicine internship in 2014, he also completed an Internal Medicine residency in 2016, both at Seton Hall University School of Health Sciences. Dr. Awan went on to complete a Cardiology fellowship at University of South Alabama Hospitals in 2019. He then joined Kelsey-Seybold medical staff in February 2024.
Initially intrigued by the functioning of the human brain and how his physician uncle cared for patients, Dr. Awan became a cardiologist to pursue his interests in preventive Cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, and invasive non-interventional cardiology. He takes care of patients with a variety of heart and vascular disease, including heart attack, congestive heart failure, and heart rhythm abnormalities. Dr. Awan’s favorite part of practicing medicine is giving hope and improving quality of life for his patients.
