Shelby Valero, DO

Shelby Valero, DO, treats patients like her own family. Connecting with patients on a human level and assessing their needs helps her treat their conditions as best as possible. Some of Dr. Valero’s top clinical interests are sports medicine, obesity and diabetes.

Dr. Valero’s passion for helping and connecting with others inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. She earned her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at the Texas Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research. Establishing long-term relationships with her patients and seeing how health interventions benefit their lives are Dr. Valero’s favorite aspects of her job.

Dr. Valero practices osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) which involves diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunctions. OMT can be effective in treating conditions like low back pain, constipation and headaches by reducing pain and promoting natural healing processes. She currently lives in San Antonio with her husband and daughter. Reading fiction, playing guitar, caring for her houseplants and spending quality time with her family and dogs are Dr. Valero’s favorite activities.
