When Dr. Matthews left the practice, I requested to see Megan Freeman. I credit with Megan for essentially saving my life by listening to my frustration over my weight and overall medical care in 2023. She explained the pros and cons on Mounjaro (before the shortage and before it was only prescribed for Type 2 Diabetes). Anyway, that medication started my weight loss journey and to date I have lost about 60 lbs. and have kept it off. I recently saw Megan for a physical and I never feel rushed when I am in for my appointment and she "listens to me". I seriously give Megan a 10 out of 10.

Just preferred to have a male doctor I believe I had a side effect of the steroid medication that I was given based upon some research that I did a side effect effects Dr. Freeman seemed to dismiss what I had discovered about side effects for steroid use However, Dr. Freeman did begin to reduce the use of the steroid

True professional, experienced, organized, great follow through/ follow up. The medical care she provides is excellent, yet she goes beyond and offers true care for patient and family. After last appointment, Megan provided a referral. She later called my elderly mother following up on results of an MRI, provided explanation of findings. I have medical POA given by my mother and approved to be provided medical information. I am her 'advocate', am my mothers 'ears' when needed, and can ask questions/ clarification of reports I think are important. Ms. Freeman took the time to call me afterwards and answer questions I had, she answered all. This is just one example, Ms. Freeman has consistently given great medical care since she has joined Dr Newton's practice, treating a patient holistically. This gives my mother and me comfort knowing she is in good hands.

I have loved Dr. Jones and then Jenny Bickerstaff. Jenny never let me down with any of her referrals or advice and she told me I would like Megan. I have only seen Megan once, but I'm hopeful that I will have the same relationship with her that I did with Jenny. I hit her with a lot of questions, and she addressed each one. Jenny and I trusted each other. She knew I was an informed, but very compliant patient who would advocate for myself if I had any concerns. That's what I believe I can have with Megan. I hated to see Jenny leave, but I'm quite optimistic about working with Megan. The first impression was great!

I was about to change from USMD but decided to try a new healthcare professional. Megan is awesome. She is smart, incredibly professional, but the most unusual thing about her compared to other healthcare professionals is her bedside manner. For me, that makes a huge difference. I have always hated going to the doctor because I have been fat shamed my whole life by my doctor instead of getting help and having my doctor actually ask the questions and listen to where my struggle stems from. Megan and her nurse provide a judgement-free, safe environment that I have NEVER experienced in a medical environment before. Beyond helping me with weight loss, she recommended professional psychotherapy that has made a huge positive difference for me. While I am still starting this weight loss journey, I hope you take me seriously when I say that you should teach your professionals the benefit of having a judgement free zone and taking the time to ask the patients where their struggles lie. It makes all the difference.

Megan seemed to be competent but when my lab reports were processed she insisted that I schedule another appointment to discuss the results. I called to make an appointment but the scheduler said that an appointment was not necessary and would leave a message with Megan to call me back. I never received a call back, but she did post a message on USMD Patient portal indicating that if I didn't want to discuss the results with her that I needed to contact my PCP or another doctor. She prescribed a couple of medications and sent them to the pharmacy. I am disappointed by this lack of service.

This was supposedly a follow up on a hospital episode the previous week, and the 'annual wellness exam for Humana & Medicare. When I checked in for the appointment, I was given a several page questionnaire regarding my current health, checks for depression, and other items. I finished that, and a nurse took me to an exam room, with the usual detour via the scales for weight monitoring. I gave the nurse the completed paperwork, and she asked a couple of other things, then said she would notify Megan that I was here. A few minutes later, the nurse came back in (and I quote) said that "I guess I'll have to do this myself". That was in regards to the cognitive evaluation, such as checking memory, drawing a clock with a specified time, etc., which she completed. She then left and it was around 30 minutes before Megan appeared. She plopped down on the stool neat the computer monitor, and stayed there for the rest of the visit. No 'listen' to heartbeat or breathing, or anything else.By no means would I rate this as a acceptable 'annual exam'. She also made a comment that I should take an iron supplement, since my hemoglobin, among other values, was remaining low. Had she looked at notes from previous visits with Chavda, she would have seen that was recommended several months ago by him, which I have followed. I was taken to the lab to get bloodwork done. Staff there was courteous & efficient as usual. The blood draw was a little after noon, so it would have gone to the outside lab with that afternoon's draws. Usually, with Chavda, and with an earlier morning appointment, the blood samples go to the lab with the morning dispatch, with results posted by the end of the day, posted to the portal & emailed to me by Chavda. Since this was a later appointment [omitted], I did not expect results till later [omitted] at the worst. I received nothing [omitted]. Abo[omitted]day, I sent a message to Megan via the portal asking about blood test results. Heard nothing [omitted], I got a message via the portal with the results. Fortunately, there was noithing critical, or that required immediate attention. Had there been, there would have been an unacceptable delay. While Megan was polite & courteous, she did just about nothing that should have been addressed on an annual exam. I also received a follow-up from Humana, and I gave them the same details listed above, along with my dissatisfaction for an incomplete exam.
