Biography

Growing up, I always loved science, and became interested in human anatomy at an early age. I even shadowed my family doctor for 'Career Day' in middle school, and loved every minute of it. That day really solidified my desire to pursue medicine because I was able to see the difference she made in people's lives. Today, I'm honored to help do the same for my patients.
I chose family medicine because I enjoy developing a rapport with my patients and their family members. By building long-term relationships based on trust, I can help keep patients healthy for a lifetime. Focusing on preventative care is a big priority in my practice. Good preventive care is so important to keeping chronic disease at bay. Not only does chronic disease reduce an individual's quality of life, it can cause serious complications. My goal is to prevent many of these conditions through simple lifestyle modifications. Eating right and exercising are great ways to start. I know it sounds clich', but one of the biggest factors affecting our health is obesity. So my approach is to help patients begin with simple, easy changes and build from there. More than anything, I like to be an advocate for my patients. Instead of just telling them what to do, I help them take an active part in their treatment plan'we work together.
Although I was born in Poughkeepsie, a small town in New York, I'm a long-time Texan. My family moved to Austin when I was four years old. I attended the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned a bachelor of science in biology, and then went to medical school at Ross University in the Caribbean. Following medical school, I lived in Miami and New York while completing medical rotations, but missed Texas so moved to Dallas for my residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Upon completion of residency, I served as associate faculty as well as medical director in UT Southwestern Medical Center's Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Richardson/Plano location.
I love the Dallas area and have put down roots here. My husband and I live in Las Colinas and look forward to starting a family of our own one day. In our free time, we enjoy being outdoors'even if it's just walking or hiking'and traveling. I like reading fiction. Harry Potter and Game of Thrones are two of my favorites.
