Biography

Thomas Barker, MD, is an internal medicine specialist. His guiding principle in patient care is respect. He seeks to engage patients in shared decision-making regarding their medical questions and respects individuals' values and wishes about their care.

Since Dr. Barker had a strong interest in both the biological and social sciences, he decided to pursue internal medicine. Primary care allows him to build relationships with patients over time. He loves accompanying patients on their paths to health and happiness.

Dr. Barker attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, followed by a fellowship at Parkland Hospital- UT Southwestern. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He serves as the Chair of the Department of Medicine for USMD Hospital and sits on the Peer Review Committee. He loves tending his fruit orchard and keeps honey bees.
