This was my first visit to become a patient of Dr. Lauri Ballard. I was not allowed to make an appointment with Dr. Ballard because my wife was seeing Dr. Ballard to also set up as being Dr. Ballard's patient. I was told Dr. Ballard only sees one new paitent per day, so it was either see Janki Patel, PA to set up service or come back another day, an inconvenice to say the least.

She does not respect patient's experiences or give validation to what she is being told by them. I was being gaslit in order to protect another doctor who 'messed up' (a Specialist) and caused me to be in the hospital due to a poor decision about the amount of a specific drug I take. That resulted in Acute Kidney Injury and near-renal failure; and I have worsening Peripheral Neuropathy almost one year later. This clinic (not Ms. Patel) did not give me a lab when I followed up with them--at direction of the Hospital--after being released from the Hospital. By the time they did a lab, I had very serious PN symptoms. They are not on top of their game in that Clinic.

I have had Janki twice now. My primary doctor and I had started a plan on the steps and directions of where I was taking my health. We agreed that I would monitor my blood pressure, write down the results as well as working on losing weight. The highest my blood pressure was at the beginning of the year was 170, the top number. The follow up appointment was made with Janki. I explained the plan my primary and I had, giving her the track of what my blood pressure was during that timeframe. What I could see from my results, my blood pressure was still high, but had gone down. The numbers which I don’t have right now, for this was months ago, I can remember a few of the top numbers… 157, 154, 156.. What I got from Janki was that she was concerned that my blood pressure machine may need to be brought in and have it recalibrated and she gave 3 sheets of a form top to bottom to fill in of monitoring my blood pressure. And then had a follow up appointment made to see her again. Inbetween that appointment and her follow up, I saw my primary, we discussed my experience Janki, and I cancelled Janki follow up appointment. My second time seeing her was because my primary doctor had an emergency situation and all patients she had on that particular timeframe had to reschedule. I was asked if I would mind being seen by a nurse practitioner, I don’t mind. When that time came for me to be seen, I had a situation that occurred and had to reschedule. Now when I rescheduled I thought I would have been rescheduled with my primary, but I was not. Infact I was told by the nurse who assisted Janki that if I didn’t asked to be rescheduled with my primary that I would be given the nurse practitioner. For this appointment I had to give a urine sample and do bloodwork. To my surprise, I didn’t know why I needed to give a urine sample or bloodwork. I was thinking that is done once a year. I wasn’t told why I needed to do this. So, after that was done, I went to the appointment made to discuss those results, instead, when I signed in, I was given a whole lot of paperwork with no explanation of why, questions on things as if I was using assistance care. And as I kept filling out all this extensive paperwork I was thinking 2 things. Why is this necessary, and thought I was seeing my primary. When I entered the exam room, the nurse took me through some different exercises, like remembering 3 words to repeat back, and put the numbers on the face of a clock. I was preoccupied in my mind thinking “what is going on?” When Janki came in, she had her agenda of questions and tests she wanted me to do. As I interrupted her agenda she kept trying to go back to it. I finally stopped the appointment. I wanted my primary doctor. Janki left the room, the nurse came with my info, but this nurse wanted to know what happened? I only told her I wanted my doc. That nurse was unprofessional. Janki ways is ambush.

I’m currently on a medication topirmate, Dr Gardner has me on this for Migraines. One side effect is weight loss. Patel decided she needed to talk to me about cancer because of my weight loss. The bed side manor and approach was very rough and abrupt. Coming in and just saying it’s cancer before we talked about anything else. I got very emotional, and called my husband. As she and I talked to my husband she began to try to backpedal from what was obviously a wrong tactic, and as she talked to my husband and learned I had actually gained weight from my previous appointment, that she apparently didn’t bother to read before saying it’s cancer and we need to start cancer screenings. This was very upsetting, and still upsets me.

I really like her. I believe she cares about the care she gives. I'm not happy about the fact that I had an CT scan done on [omitted] and I have not been able to find out the results. I have left a message for her, I haven't had any calls from anyone. I also had a referral sent to a Liver specialist and I haven't heard anything about that either. I saw Patel on [omitted], that's when a referral was sent. Have I been put on the back burner?

Seeing her after an ER visit, I had done some reading on my complaints. When I said that I had done that, there was a visible sigh, which came across as me having consulted "Dr. Google". SOMEBODY had to do some reading on the symptoms, because I haven't gotten any answers from the medical community.

Janki does not review the notes before a meeting. She asks very stupid questions - like - Why do you need a wheelchair? By the way - I still do not have one. She seems very uninformed to the point I have asked her to please review Dr. Gardner's notes and please prescribe the same medications this time as before for the same reason.
