Biography

Yemi Ononogbu is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Post-Master Specialty in Family Psychiatrics from the University of South Alabama. Growing up in a place where mental health was stigmatized, rarely discussed, and often left untreated, she understands and is passionate about the need to de-stigmatize, address, educate, and treat mental health. Yemi joined Healthcare Associates of Texas because she believes that access to affordable and quality mental health care is fundamental. Yemi also believes that it is important to breach the gap of care for mental health care patients in primary care settings. She began her career as an intensive care registered nurse in Lufkin, TX. She then went on to receive a Master of Science in Nursing at Texas Woman's University where she worked as a graduate assistant for the duration of her studies. She has worked as a nurse practitioner in home health settings as well as private practice settings, which include Psychiatry. Outside of work, Yemi is a wife and a mother of two. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and enjoys reading, cooking, exercising, and sleeping. She likes to live by the quote: 'Every encounter is a chance to be kind'
