Biography

Amelia Averyt, MD, MPH, completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. She went on to complete her Master of Public Health with a concentration in social and behavioral determinants of health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2013. In 2014, she completed her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she went on to complete her Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency in 2018.
As a general practitioner, Dr. Averyt cares for patients along the life course and on the health-illness spectrum. Whether they have a specific concern related to their health or are interested in general care and the early detection, treatment, or prevention of chronic or acute illness, she is excited to be part of their journey. She believes in patient-centered, evidence-based care and helping patients meet their unique health-related goals. She is interested in caring for the whole person, including the mental, physical, environmental, and social components of health. Dr. Averyt has a special interest in providing a sensitive and supportive medical home for the youth in her care and offering gender affirming care for her adult patients.
