Dr. Vela appeared to be concerned with only my blood work and nothing else. I told her about a possible abdominal tear and she didn’t ask me about it. I had informed her about a fall (twice) and she didn’t ask me about it. It appeared that she was only concerned about the rise in my A1C.

In my January check-up, Dr. Vela twice declared that I was diabetic. As she continued her examination she never explained her comment by either telling me what I should do or meds to take. My A1C hasn’t changed in 6 months (pre-diabetic) and I feel fine.

This was the first time to meet with her due to a change with prior Doctor leaving. I was very pleased with her care, time she spent with me. I felt she was very kind and thorough. Since she was my new provider I discussed some very emotional information about what I have gone through. She expressed a genuine care for my situation and life. I did not feel like she was rushing the visit at all but that she took time to get to know me.
