John Root, MD

John Root, MD, strongly believes in patient autonomy, helping to support and empower them to make smart health decisions. He views himself as a health advisor who helps patients navigate the health care system with ease.

Dr. Root received his medical degree from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. During his physician training, he found that he enjoyed many different fields of medicine. He then pursued a career in family medicine, which allowed him to oversee multiple aspects of his patients' health. His favorite part of his job is helping his patients reduce their illness burden and restore their wellness.

Dr. Root is originally from Canada but currently resides in Rockport, Texas. He is married and has two stepchildren and four grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as windsurfing, scuba diving and fishing. Dr. Root is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
