She's my favorite of any doctor I've ever had (I'm over age [omitted] so I've had a few). Her staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the office always runs on time. I've never felt the need check the time I'm called into the exam room because it has never felt like I've been waiting a while. And yet I never feel rushed. She checks in with me on everything about my health and we also have a minute or two of personal chat time, so it always feels friendly.

Given that 5 weeks ago, my pulmonologist left me a message that I should contact Dr Mattey to have a biopsy because I have "more than eight lymph nodes compatible with malignancy", I was expecting information, a plan forward, and concern for her patient. Upon seeing her on the video, she looked beautiful and radiant, and I was not going to address the highly stressful delays, just focus on my care. As soon as she opened her mouth, she was unprofessional, angry, defensive, and did not let me get a word in edgewise. I tried to stop her from making a fool of herself, but she would not pause for my interjection. She was on a rampage, the likes of which I have never seen before in my [omitted]. She made it abundantly clear that 1) patients should not question the authority of their doctors and 2) patients must not change their minds based on a) new information about their condition, i. e., a PET scan and b) change in the situation, i. e., the patient gets two Covid. Upon her catching a breath, I was able to slip in a couple of words about part b) and, perhaps realizing that she had made a rush to judgment that I was her enemy, she deflated and began connecting with reality. It has been five days since the video call and six weeks since my scary PET scan, and STILL, no follow-up biopsy nor reason for no biopsy. shots.
