Vanessa McDaniel, NP

Growing up in the military made my life very interesting. I had the unique opportunity to travel the country and even the world, from a very young age. I was born in Columbus, Georgia, but I grew up all the world. I even lived in Germany for four years!
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to help others, specifically animals or people. I wasn't sure what that looked like, but I've always had this innate characteristic that has called me to care for others. In pursuit of this, I attended Texas Tech University Health and Science Center where I earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing. I was eager to put my skills to the test and began work right away at St. Luke Baptist Hospital. I decided that I wanted to further my knowledge, so I decided to pursue higher education.
I graduated with a master's in nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. I chose to specialize in family medicine because there's something really special about being there for someone during every stage of their life. It allows me to be a part of the good the bad and the ugly and actually make a difference in their health as they continue to grow. The best part about my job is making a difference in my patients' lives.
My philosophy to patient care is based on education and disease prevention. I believe that the more patients know, the more likely they are to make better decisions and get rid of unhealthy habits. I want patients to feel comfortable having an honest and educated conversation about their health goals.
I live in Mansfield with my husband and our four children. In my free time I enjoy family game nights, reading, watching sports, and of course 'Mommy's Night Out' with my friends.
