Biography

I was born in California and grew up in Alaska and Oregon. I was always interested in medicine and liked caring for people so I decided to go into nursing.
After working as a nurse, I found that I really enjoyed helping to solve the puzzles presented by medical problems and wanted to spend more time with my patients. I earned my B.S. in Nursing at the University of Texas Arlington and decided to continue on to earn an M.S. in Nursing to fulfill my dream of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. I chose internal medicine because I like to focus on the health of the whole individual. Internal medicine allows me to do that by concentrating on how the body systems work together.
I value the opportunities I have to get to know my patients and want to work with them to reach their health goals. By listening to one another, discussing concerns and planning the steps to be taken we can build a relationship that will serve them in sickness and good health.
When I am not caring for patients, I love to travel and enjoy scuba diving. At home I enjoy gardening, cooking, and sewing, but my favorite thing is spending time with my awesome husband and children.
