Kristi Garrett, MD

I knew that I wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember. My interest grew while on a medical mission trip to Guatemala with my church's youth group. Being able to see first-hand the impact of medical care on the lives of those who need it most made me realize that medicine was my calling.
I was born in Charleston, South Carolina but moved to Maine when I was six, where I spent the rest of my childhood. I left Maine to attend Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois where I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Health Science. I attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Massachusetts and completed my internship and residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
During my time in medical school I chose to specialize in Internal medicine because I love the continuity of care that I get to provide as an internist, as well as the emphasis on preventive medicine. I enjoy the challenge of a broad scope of practice and strive to be an expert in adult primary care.
My approach to my practice is simple; treat my patients like they're my family. I believe that truly listening to patients is the most important quality of a successful doctor because no one knows what they're going through better than the patient.
I currently live in Midlothian with my husband and our two golden retrievers. I enjoy spending my free time with my family, traveling, swimming and playing with my dogs.
