Munawar Hayat, MD

I have a passion for medicine and preventative care, and really enjoy building long-term relationships with my patients and the communities I serve. I believe in treating patients the way I'd like to be treated'with compassion and honesty.
I believe most illness can be prevented with a healthy, balanced lifestyle. That's why my team and I work to help patients make healthy changes that can improve their overall wellbeing. Learning that we have helped a patient reach a goal is very rewarding'whether it's lowering their blood pressure or another milestone they want to achieve.
I'm a Texas transplant now, but was raised in the heart of the Big Apple'Brooklyn, New York. After earning a bachelor's degree in biology at City University of New York, Brooklyn College, I attended St. George University School of Medicine in Grenada. I completed my residency in Family and Community Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where I also earned a distinction in Sports Medicine.
I am newly married to Amber Durani, a Dallas native, and we live in Grapevine. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, cooking with my wife, traveling, rock climbing, and practicing martial arts. I have a second-degree black belt in Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate. I also enjoy being involved in the community and go to local high school sporting events to provide medical care for the athletes.
