Biography

Lydia Navarro-Román, MD, received her medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and was a resident in pathology and clinical laboratory at the University of Vermont and a Fellow at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She participated in research on HTLV-I ¬–the first human retrovirus– published numerous articles and a popular book on Tropical Medicine (in Spanish). She was a volunteer in medical missions in Africa and Central America and then entered the field of primary care medicine with a passion and desire to help alleviate suffering.

Today, she enjoys educating her patients, providing them with the information that helps them understand their conditions more deeply. Dr. Navarro-Román believes that “knowledge is power,” encouraging her to educate her patients to understand the full healing process.

Born and raised in Barranquilla and Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Navarro-Román now resides in Houston, Texas. She is passionate about her faith, and spends her free time reading, French cooking, and traveling around the world. Dr. Navarro-Román also enjoys spending time with her husband, a doctor (Neurologist) and her two sons.
